The greatest gift you could ever give yourself is to learn more about yourself. Understanding how you operate inside is priceless. The information on this page will help provide a basic understanding of some things that your conscious mind needs to learn about the unconscious mind and your body. While we are at it, it’s worth learning a few things about our conscious minds as well.
Learning more about the conscious and unconscious mind as a very important component of my life coaching program as it allows us to learn how to best instruct ourselves. Both your, conscious and unconscious mind, play different roles in the management and creation of your life. They both have your best interest at heart and you need them on the same page in order to get what you want.
Here just a few wonderful facts about ourselves. I hope these get you as excited as I am about being human.
- Your mind knows no limits. It adopts those limits you accept consciously
This fairly self explanatory yet so profound. I am always amazed at the limitations we so easily accept without any question or reason required. If you are up for doing an interesting exercise, write down all the limitations within yourself that you are aware of. Then ask the question: "How does this decision serve me?" for each limitation. You will quickly gain some insights as to some of the obstacles you have placed in the way of your dreams.
- We all do the best with what we have got
This statement normally gets a host of mixed responses. Normally because people think that it takes away from their potential or diminishes what they think they are capable of. When understood it actually has the opposite effect. The principal here is part of what you have is, commitments, circumstances, baggage, lack of information and anything else that contributed to your result including, talents, potential, energy and any other resources. What is really helpful when considering this is that it is pointless beating yourself up about anything in the past. What it encourages us to do is to change what we have so the we can get better results.
- Humans have more than one hundred billion possible neurological connections
Every cell in your body is bathed in neurons. Every neurological connection is knowledge & know how. Basically our potential is beyond what we can comprehend. This is very exciting when we are finding more and more ways to access and harness this potential.
I hope this has inspired you to learn a bit more about yourself. This page serves only as an introduction to some of the concepts I will cover with you on my life coaching program. Enjoy the learning!
- 97% of your perception and behavior is decided before you think about it consciously.

YOUR UNCONSCIOUS MIND
Your unconscious mind holds the blueprint for how all things within yourself work. I have chosen to focus on 3 key functions of the unconscious mind.
Manages your body
When you walk or move any body part you do it completely unconsciously. Yes you are aware of the result of moving your body parts but you definitely did not consciously instruct every muscle to move in sequence in order to move a limb. Your unconscious mind takes care of all that detail. In the same way your body reacts to the way you feel without you consciously realising how your body has changed. It’s your unconscious mind that automatically tells your body to behave in accordance with how you feel. This means, that to the trained eye, your body says a lot about your mind and what state it is in. It also means that if you are going to have a healthy body you need a healthy mind.
Manages all of your memories

Your unconscious mind stores all your memories. Understanding the mechanics of how memories are stored is very helpful as it allows us to choose how to deal with them. Before we look at how memories are stored it would be good to understand what memories are. Our senses experience 2 million bits per second of information. Our unconscious mind only stores approximately 1% of that information. You have a set of filters that process the 2 million bits of information, much like a super computer would, so that only the processed information is stored in the form of an internal representation. This processor does 3 things to the information in forming the internal representation. It deletes, distorts and generalises every bit of information based on the filters you have. Filters are various programs such as values, beliefs, language, meta programs etc. So your memory stored is your internal representation of an event. That simply means that your memory is not necessarily a detailed snapshot of what really happened but rather the processed version of what happened. That explains why 2 people at the same meeting walk away with completely different experiences. Now these internal representations are stored in time as well as by emotions. That means that you can remember when things happened as well as what emotions are linked to the specific memory. I am sure you have many good memories as well bad ones. Memories with unprocessed negative emotions impact your body and your life negatively today even though those events happened in the past. Luckily the solution is not to get rid of the past as there are many things that can be learnt from our pasts. In fact often the only reason we hang on to unprocessed negative emotions is because we have not learnt what we have to in order to let go. An unprocessed negative emotion is a negative emotion that you still experience when revisiting an event in your past. How would you like to learn to manage your memories so that you can benefit from your past experiences without the ongoing negative impact?
Determines the results in your life
What you think determines how you feel. What you feel determines your behavior and your behavior determines your results. Ultimately your thinking is the source of the results in your life. I am not advocating that by simply thinking that all your problems don’t exist that they will actually disappear. What I am saying is that if you change your thinking you will feel differently about those things in your life. That will enable you to act or behave differently giving you more desired results. If your thinking allows for other outside influences to affect your ability to get what you want out of life then you have given those outside things control over your results. I will teach you how to train your mind to be in control. So that you are in control of how you feel as well your results in life.
I have only touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of learning about the unconscious mind in the information above. I trust that this will prompt you to learn more about yourself and ultimately empower yourself to have the life you want.
YOUR BODY
Is run by your unconscious mind
The management of your entire body is done by your unconscious mind. When you lift your arm, you don’t consciously instruct every muscle required to move your arm. Consciously you are aware of the result or action to be performed. Your unconscious mind takes care of the detailed instructions in your body to perform the task.
By the time a human reaches adulthood, the body consists of close to 10 trillion cells. Groups of cells combine and work in tandem to form tissue, which combines to form organs, which work together to form organ systems. The organ systems of the body include the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, endocrine system, integumentary system, urinary system, lymphatic system, immune system, respiratory system, nervous system and reproductive system. Luckily we don’t really need to know any of this as our unconscious minds have been managing all these things since our first moment.
It stands to reason that what goes on in our minds affects our bodies. Our bodies also affect our minds. When doing exercise or having an orgasm, as an example, your body releases chemicals that you make you feel good. When you feel good you are in a resourceful state and your thinking is different as to when you angry or sad. By learning how your body and mind work together you can increase your performance and better manage your physical resources.
Has a blueprint for perfect health
Your unconscious mind stores the blueprint for your perfect health. This means that you have access to that blueprint. Many studies show a clear coloration between peoples physical well being and their mental state and beliefs. If you are struggling with a dis – ease you could find some relief in learning more about the mind-body connection. As there are many legal and ethical issues around the diagnoses and treatment of diseases I need to make it very clear that I am not advocating in any way whatsoever that I diagnose and treat any disease or illness. I simply educate you on how your unconscious mind functions, which happens to control your body.
Recreates itself (Cell regeneration)
As we have learnt, all our body parts and organs are made up of cells. Cells have a life span and are then replaced with new ones. For each organ and body part the life span of the cells differ. Some are replaced in days and other cells, like your bones, take approximately 12 months to be replaced. This all happens under instruction of your unconscious mind. So looking at the facts, you have a blueprint of perfect health, your body recreates itself and this is all managed by your unconscious mind that can be programmed or given instruction to, it should make sense that a healthy mind should result in a healthier body.
YOUR CONSCIOUS MIND
If I was asked to vote for the single most significant key to success I would undoubtedly vote for the ability to get your conscious and unconscious mind on the same page. When you have internal conflict or different objectives between your conscious and unconscious you are wasting lots of energy on not achieving what you want.
Even though your unconscious mind stores learning's, your conscious mind learns. It accesses learning's and determines when to apply them. If I ask you what your phone number is, you can tell me as result of your conscious mind recalling the information or learning from where your unconscious mind stored it. Your conscious mind learns what is acceptable behavior in society and will regulate your behavior as best it can regardless of what is going on inside you. Your conscious mind learns the difference between right and wrong and how to apply those learning's. A good example of how your conscious and unconscious minds are not on the same page is: Your conscious mind has learnt that it is good to make enough money to sustain the lifestyle you want. In your unconscious mind you do not believe that it is possible to make enough money to sustain the lifestyle you want. In my mind it’s clear that you will probably not make enough money to sustain the lifestyle you want. As a solution I would suggest that we get your unconscious mind up to speed with your conscious mind. We then need to make sure that your conscious mind is now aware that your unconscious mind is with the program.
Your conscious mind filters and evaluates information against your beliefs and values. It will therefore make decisions about what is true or what is false. It is therefore imperative that your conscious mind becomes aware of and is part of the process of any learning or information that passes through to the unconscious mind. Everything we do is grounded in this principal.
Are you ready to align your conscious and unconscious minds so that you can have the life you want?
